There are about 8 notebooks I surround myself with when writing or learning on the computer. There's always a cat to shuffle my neat piles into a complete mess in 3 seconds. Thank goodness I've learned to staple articles together and then yea for an automatic hole punch so I can put them in a notebook. Yes I do use Scrivener and Evernote for clipping and saving lots of things. But sometimes I want to quickly go to the pile of stuff only related to Leadpages, my website, Facebook, passwords (I must have yours and mine.)
I have usually 4 minutes before I'm watching a webinar. I just started tracking them in the last 2 weeks and realized I have a "butt" load of them literally. My eyes are intensely focused and glazed as I play sponge to absorb as much as I can. Literally I am going to one now and will return to report on what I've learned. Thought that would be one of the best things I could share...how I view, use information and what makes me buy from someone. Later.
I take notes rapidly in Pages (Mac user) with the webinar on my left and the chat screen peaking from beneath my document. So I misspell a few words as I type but then it's all for me and I'm anal enough to correct the little blunders when there is a lull. Sometimes I'll record one with Screenflow (even though I know I'll get a replay later). I'm not always timely to get that replay probably because I'm watching another webinar.
OK, it's later. Will now condense 1 hour and 45 minutes into this:
How to make money with books. Selling books will never make you money. Using the book to show you are an authority (none of this really applies to fiction writers) opens doors for you. If 1000 people claim to have the same knowledge, then the one who has the book wins.
Writing a book will help get you attention if you keep it in a very narrow niche...read people who actually care and will benefit from what you write. You can be number one in a niche. You are now in a field of one.
If it's a well written book you'll get word of mouth (best all time advertising). What you say will come out of other people's mouths. Must understand foremost who your audience is before you write.
Amazon is best place to sell information books period.
Sell a physical product with the book. Sell software or a service with the book. People don't really like reading about learning how to do something anymore. They want to be told or shown. It's faster. Make money giving speeches after you've written your book.
Create a membership site and give the book away as a bonus for taking the course on the information the book covers.
Hold workshops as the expert. Get paid well. Speakers by the way if top tier get $100,000, mid-tier make $15,000 to $30,000 and the lower tier is $3000 to $5000. Only some are cut out to do this since after all, most people say they'd rather die than be onstage.
Advance your career if you have a book in your field on your resume. Most people aren't committed enough to take the time to organize their thoughts and set themselves up to be judged. You'll stand out.
And if you use your book to promote your business everything is tax deductible.
I know for sure there is a correlation between writing a course and writing a book. People don't buy a course or a book for any other reason than the result or outcome) transformation you provide. That's why we are being so dedicated in what we are putting in the first course offered at my school: Ofcourseware.xyz Because the people we have targeted matter to us. We want to do a GREAT job and I KNOW FOR SURE I have the best, the MASTER Traditional Retoucher & Spotter left on the planet. Katherine Gillis may have many legacies, but for sure, seeing that the information, the techniques, skills and tools used for Applying dyes to B&W prints won't be lost forever, will certainly be one of them.
Click on the Free Tools & Resources checklist below if you're interested in seeing the professional tools Katherine Gillis uses. This will be handy if you take her course too!
I am a writer who loves photography, videos and teaching about things I know will make your life easier or better.
