What information do we collect?
We collect your name (first and sometimes last) and your email when you sign up to receive updates about a course or become a student of a course. We also by law must have your location information which is limited to city, state, zip code, country, and time zone).
We do what is a double opt-in which gives you an opportunity to confirm that you want to receive updates about the school and/or the course. The primary purpose of our opt-in form is to give a resource to our students and ask you to confirm that you want updates. GDPR does not require a double opt-in, however GDPR requires proof of consent and that second confirmation from you is consent.
You always have the option in any email to unsubscribe and you will no longer receive emails from us.
To meet the new EU requirements:
Every single page on this school site is security protected meaning your information on this platform cannot be seen. Every page has a secure socket layer (or SSL) which means it encrypts data shared between a web browser and a web server. This ensures any data taken from a site is confidential.
What do we use this information for and how?
Your information is for us to be able to contact you and respond to you: updates and announcements.
The school platform and our auto-responder are totally GDPR compliant and they necessarily are integrated which means we each have your name and email since you are a subscriber or student. If you buy a course your data will go to Convertkit for example.
Convertkit is Privacy Shield Certified as is Zoom.us. This is a program administered by the US Department of Commerce to provide a framework ensuring adequate protections for the transfer of personal data from the EU to the US.
Anyone receiving this email or contacting the school directly in the EU has the right to erase (or be forgotten) meaning we can delete all of your personal data from the school and Convertkit.
The school has made it easy to get new consent from any existing subscribers in the EU.
What is NOT stored (because we don’t ask for it or have a means of gathering it):
- Genetic data
- Religious beliefs
- Biometric data
- Any data concerning health or sexual orientation
- Trade union membership
- Political opinions
We do NOT disclose any of your information to outside parties.
We do NOT sell, trade, or transfer your personally identifiable information. (Other than to the trusted third parties school platform, Convertkit, Zoom.us and to enable a financial transaction through PayPal and Stripe.)
We are sure you have received many, many of these. We have too and we’ve kept this short. This is a required legal notice.
Here is a quick overview of the updates to better serve you:

We’ve made these updates to ensure that our terms are easier to understand and to keep up with the ever evolving international data privacy standards.
Protecting your privacy is our top concern and essential to keeping a lasting relationship with you. We are committed to doing the right thing with the information you entrusted us with.
